SAFARICOM: CHAPA DIMBA
The challenge: create a script for an animated concept that seamlessly follows the journeys of Kenyan footballers from the grassroots to the final of the Chapa Dimba competition.
To try and push the boat out, we suggested animating the worlds with AI, making it the first commercial to use the technique in the world and thus creating a buzz and helping Safaricom with their rebrand as a tech company.
The entire film was shot live action in front of giant blue screens on different outdoor surfaces, then AI was used to create the animated backdrops and occasionally to animate the characters themselves.
The main film has achieved 10M views globally, while scene extensions were created as opposed to regular cutdowns, which extends storytelling and derives more value from the main asset.
